So as we head to the final regular season weekend and with the games on Wednesday now complete, where can OSU finish??
Assuming we can beat Rutgers we will finish 9-11 in conference
MSU winning last night means they will have at least 10 wins and be ahead of us.
The following 7 teams are guaranteed to have 10 or more wins (Purdue, Illinois, Nebraska, NW, Wisc, Iowa and MSU)
So whats left? Well a big one is the Indiana/Minn game, they are both 9-10 right now. The winner will finish 10-10 and be ahead of OSU which means there will now be 8 teams ahead of us so the best we can finish is 9th
The loser will be tied with us at 9-11.
Also PSU plays MD at home Sunday, if PSU wins they will also be 9-11.
So with all of that still in play only 1 scenario allows us to be the 9 seed
- Beat Rutgers, PSU losses to MD and Indiana beats MInn, we then are in a tie with Minny and the 2nd level tie breaker would go to us.
To be the 10th seed there are a couple and includes ones where we lose to Rutgers
however if we lose to Rutgers I think we would have to at least get to the B10 tourney champs game to have a ncaa tourney shot.
If we are the 10th seed then we will play the 7th seed, which at this point would be MSU, but could be Minn or Iowa depending on the final weekend outcome.
Win there and we play Illinois in the 2nd game
If we get the break and are 9th, then we play the 8 seed which would be the winner of the Minn/Indiana game and then Purdue in game 2
If we lose then we could still be the 10 seed, but possibly 11th or 12th and have to play on Wednesday
