Former Ohio State offensive lineman Chase Farris was waived by the NFL's New England Patriots on Thursday, according to a report by ESPN's Mike Reiss.
Farris, who started at right tackle for Ohio State in 2015, was on the Patriots' practice squad last season. He was originally signed by the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent after last year's draft, but was released by the Lions before the start of the regular season.
Farris was expected to compete for a backup spot at guard with the Patriots in training camp. According to Reiss, Farris was waived with a non-football injury designation.
