Chip Kelly is getting paid some serious dough.
While it's already been widely reported that Chip Kelly is leaving Ohio State to become the Las Vegas Raiders' offensive coordinator, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported details Sunday evening that illuminated just how in demand Kelly was.
Per Breer's report, Kelly will make $6 million annually with the Raiders. That salary is triple the amount he made at OSU ($2 million) and nearly identical to his compensation in his final year as UCLA's head coach in 2023 ($6.1 million). That number will make Kelly the highest-paid coordinator in pro football.
The @Raiders told candidates during their search they were making a serious commitment with an infusion of cash from the new owners. Here it isChip Kelly was lured to Vegas with a deal averaging $6 million per year, per sources.

Kelly is now the NFL's highest-paid coordinator.
Per the terms of the three-year contract Kelly signed with Ohio State last year, Kelly will owe Ohio State a $350,000 buyout for leaving Ohio State to become an NFL assistant coach. He's the third assistant coach to leave Columbus this offseason following the Buckeyes’ national championship season, joining defensive coordinator Jim Knowles (Penn State) and offensive line coach Justin Frye (Arizona Cardinals).
With Kelly calling Ohio State’s offensive plays and coaching the Buckeyes’ quarterbacks, Ohio State scored 35.7 points per game – an increase of more than five points per game from 2023 – and Will Howard completed a school-record 73% of his passes while leading the Buckeyes to a national championship.
