Recruiting is said to be the lifeblood of college football. This series will countdown the top 100 high schools in Ohio that have provided the Buckeyes with football players. The rankings are based on how many times a player from each high school has been listed on Ohio State's roster between 1970 and 2018.
No. 87, Amherst/Marion L. Steele
Qualification
Three players from Amherst Steele have been listed on 11 Ohio State rosters. The first Comet to make Ohio State's roster was Tony Moore. The defensive tackle was in Columbus between 1986 and 1990. Next up, was WR Matt Jacobs who was on the team for the 1993, '94 and '95 seasons. The final player from Marion L. Steele was OG Jason Kozar who was also on the team for three years. None of the three made a significant impact the program, but they put Steele on the Ohio State roster for 11 seasons.
Back To School
Amherst Steele is located in Lorain County and is a member of the Southwestern Conference. The team currently competes in Division II, Region 5. Of late, the Rangers have been a very bad team. It's been over a decade since the Comets have madea playoff appearance. They lost to Twinsburg, 20-11 in the first round of the 2008 playoffs. The football program has never won a state title.
Notable
Marion L. Steele has 3 state championships, but none of them are for football. The boys' cross country team has two (1977, 1962) and the girls' cross country team has one (1991). The team mascot is called "Comet Man".

Explanation of the Rankings
School "A" had 14 players appear 16 times on Ohio State's roster. School "B" had 11 players appear 20 times on Ohio State's roster. School "B" will have the higher ranking. Why? Even though school "B" has less players, those players played for more years.
If two or more schools have the same number of appearances, the tie will be broken by the school with the highest average of roster appearances per player. If there is a tie in the average, the tie breaker will be the school with the most prominent Ohio State player.
