A former Maryland defensive tackle who was recruited by Larry Johnson and Ohio State as a high school football player will now be coaching alongside Johnson at Ohio State.
Cam Spence, who played for the Terrapins from 2017-19 before transitioning into coaching, announced Tuesday that he is joining the Buckeyes as a graduate assistant defensive line coach.

A four-star recruit who had an Ohio State offer in the 2017 class, Spence was forced to retire from football in 2019 due to injuries. Spence remained with Maryland as a student assistant for the 2019 season before starting his own defensive line training academy. Now, after one year as a recruiting intern at Miami, Spence will get back to coaching defensive linemen at Ohio State.
