For obvious reasons, Day’s future in Columbus looks to be murky at best. Regardless of your thoughts on that, everywhere you look it’s hard to miss the speculation on who possible candidates might be. Lots of names I’ve seen thrown around, but one I have hardly seen is Eddie George. Looking at it, this might be a better potential hire than most realize.

Eddie’s college football and NFL credentials don’t need any explanation. But beyond that, Eddie has turned around a bad Tennessee St. team in just a few years, going from 4-8 type seasons to now qualifying for the FCS playoffs, which is why he was named Big South coach of the year. He’s well respected, and he very clearly would understand the rivalry. I think he would recruit well with his personality and name brand. I’m not saying he would be choice #1 in the event that Day is asked to leave, but I think he’s an underrated option.
