How quickly the narrative changes when Evil Ryan Day shows up:

He's 14-8* in Top-10 matchups (soon to be 14-6 once scUM's ill-gotten gains are vacated)

and 5-6* in Top-5 matchups (soon to be 5-4, see above)

And among those top 10 losses is the throwaway Cotton Bowl where we played without our best player (MHJ) and a true freshman QB who had been on campus for all of three and a half months; and one of those top 5 losses that National Championship game against Bama where half our defensive starters were held out due to Covid and our All-conference star RB was lost just minutes into the first quarter.

I've been part of the crowd critical of Day's inability to get his mind right when it comes to TCUN, but I can't argue with the overall results. He's 68-10* at this point. For reference, 6 seasons in, Jim Tressel was sitting at 62-14 and Urban Meyer was 73-8. The guy is elite when he shifts out of neutral and remembers who he is. His only knock compared to his two predecessors is that he hasn't won a title for us yet, but I feel like he's been knocking on that door almost every year (and had two chances that were taken away thanks to some egregious advance scouting combined with uncharacteristic poor playcalling).

Anyway, as I enjoy my delicious slice of holiday crow pie, I'll reiterate that I'm grateful to have him as our coach. Hoping for more good news next week!
