Ohio State will wear its home scarlet uniforms in the Cotton Bowl even though the Buckeyes will be the road team.

A university spokesperson confirmed to Eleven Warriors that Ohio State will wear its scarlet jerseys for the second time this postseason in the Cotton Bowl. After wearing all-scarlet uniforms in its 42-17 victory against Tennessee in the first round and road whites in its 41-21 victory over top-seeded Oregon in the Rose Bowl, the Buckeyes will wear their traditional home uniforms of scarlet jerseys and gray pants against Texas.

As the higher-seeded team in the matchup, Texas chose to wear its white uniforms for the second time this postseason despite being the designated home team. The Longhorns also donned their road uniforms in their 39-31 double-overtime victory over Arizona State in the Peach Bowl on New Year’s Day.

The Buckeyes and Longhorns will square off on Friday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with a spot in the College Football Playoff national championship game on the line, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPN.
