So far all of the teams that had a first round bye have lost. If Notre Dame can beat Georgia, how soon after the game will we see the narrative shift the bye being a disadvantage? How soon will that become the excuse of the losing side?
Never mind that until they won the SEC championship, Georgia struggled mightily throughout the season. Texas was the best team in that league, and while they barely escaped ASU, probably would have been one of the betting favorites to make the semifinals before the end of the regular season.
Never mind that if true seeding mattered, two of the four bye teams were bottom 4 playoff teams.
Never mind that Oregon was forced to play a juggernaut when there were two cupcakes still on the table. This despite earning the “top seed.”
And never mind that Ohio State lost, inexplicably & inexcusably, in the final regular season game or Instead of an 8 seed we would probably have entered the tournament with the 1 seed (after winning the B1G in Indy of course).
