If you all recall the 2020 playoff game against Clemson, Day had learned from his experience a year earlier that Venables’ defense would make late adjustments (ahem…legal sign stealing). So what did he do to counter this? Huddle to avoid the sign steal and run the play quickly so Clemson couldn’t adjust.
Fast Forward to the October game against Oregon. Our defense struggled with getting lined up and the overall tempo of Oregon's offense. So what did Knowles do yesterday? I don’t know if it was as noticeable on TV as it was from the stadium, but every time Oregon substituted, we ran new linemen on. At first I thought it was to keep them fresh but then I noticed how slowly they ran on and off the field. It was clear that they were slowing down Oregons offense very intentionally. Did anyone else see this?
