At least 250 customers in Windian territory were celebrating the Tribe's 15 game winning streak with free windows and siding last night. Universal Windows Direct enjoyed the victory, as well. The company received beaucoup positive publicity, and an insurance policy covered the $1.7 million going back to folks who purchased products in July.
MLB.com's Anthony Castrovince had a cute article today about fun facts surrounding the streak. One item to note: this is the first 15 game streak within a single season since Moneyball's Oakland A's ran off 20 straight in 2002. Another interesting fact: the Indians now have the best run differential in baseball (plus-199), even better than the Dodgers (plus-177). And they accomplished this by winning back to back double headers, which hasn't happened since the Kansas City Royals did so in 1977. Did you know that in all fifteen games of the streak, the Indians scored first? Here's an interesting factoid for any Reds fans out there. The last team to win every game of a road trip 11 games or more was the 1957 Cincinnati Reds. Don't need to remind anyone that pitching has been stellar, but one thing you might not realize is that the starting staff's ERA has actually gone...UP!...in this stretch, from 1.86 to 1.91. Good thing I'm not a betting person, because I would have lost money on that one.
Anyway, Mike Clevinger takes the mound tonight for the tribe. He's thrown 6 scoreless innings in each of his prior two starts. Let's keep this streak going! Let the banter begin.
