I was an enlisted member of the United States Navy during the Persian Gulf war. I served aboard the USS Arkansas deployed in the Persian Gulf. I served for six years, and although I didn't really care for my time in the Navy, I garnered a great education and met many great young men that I continue to count as the very best friends I have ever had.
I rarely embraced my time in the Navy after getting out in 21 years ago. It's not like I stormed the beaches of Normandy, or patrolled the jungles of Viet Nam. When my children reached school age, it became important to them. They are proud of me and I started to change my views of my accomplishments in the Navy. Eleven Warriors ran a contest for tickets to the Ohio State vs. Navy game and the donor wanted the tickets to go to a veteran. I won the contest and took my daughter to her first Buckeyes game. I want to thank Eleven Warriors, the writers and the members of the site. I love this site and it gave me a lasting memory for my daughter and I. Lastly, to all the others that have served, I want to wish you a happy veterans day.
