Those who have partaken of Ohio State lacrosse games this season have been treated to one of the best and most fitting nicknames in Buckeye – hell, make it all of college athletics.
Starting goalie Caleb "Big Tasty" Fyock weighs in at 297 pounds, and his favorite snack is opposing shots. As the Buckeyes have climbed to No. 3 in the country with a nine-game winning streak, Fyock has emerged as one of the nation's best netminders.
Fyock has gobbled up a save percentage of .628, good for third-best among all goalies in the NCAA. He fares even better in goals against average with just 6.4, placing him second in the nation. A sophomore, he earned Ohio State's Most Outstanding Freshman Award after starting 14 of the Buckeyes' 15 games in 2024, recording a save percentage of .517.
The Buckeyes and Fyock are in the midst of a nine-game winning streak after starting their season in the losing column, including wins over No. 20 Denver, No. 7 Notre Dame and, most recently, No. 6 (then No. 4) Penn State. Fyock tied a career-high with 17 saves against the Nittany Lions.
