If there's anything that has eluded Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer during his five seasons in Columbus, it's seemingly been a game-changing, highly sought-after defensive tackle.
But now that narrative is no longer valid – if indeed it ever was – as Bradenton, Florida, IMG Academy five-star defensive tackle Taron Vincent committed to the Buckeyes on Sunday evening.
Just would like to thank God for taking me along this journey! Proud to say that I've committed to THE Ohio State University #GoBucks pic.twitter.com/Qka5ZjbmKn

The Vincent File
- Class: 2018
- Size: 6-foot-2, 285 pounds
- Pos: DT
- School: IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL)
- Composite Rating: ★★★★★
- Composite Rank: 1 (DT)
The 6-foot-2, 285-pound Vincent is considered the top-rated defensive tackle and No. 14 prospect overall in the Class of 2018. He picked the Buckeyes over 31 offers from programs such as Alabama, Clemson, Florida State and Michigan.
Ohio State has long been considered the leader for Vincent thanks to his relationship with defensive line coach Larry Johnson. He hadn't been on campus since last summer, which allowed Florida State to make up significant ground in his recruitment.
Vincent said the Buckeyes and Seminoles were dead even following his trip to Tallahassee for Junior Day last month, but his two-day visit to Columbus this week made all the difference.
Vincent becomes the fifth member of Ohio State's 2018 recruiting class, joining five-star quarterback Emory Jones, five-star safety Jaiden Woodbey, four-star running back Brian Snead and four-star all-purpose back Jaelen Gill.
Eleven Warriors will have more on Vincent's commitment soon.
