After recording two sacks, recovering two fumbles and scoring a defensive touchdown, Ohio State junior defensive end Nick Bosa has been named the Bednarik Award National Player of the Week.
The Maxwell Football Club presents the weekly award winner for the Bednarik Award, which is given annually to college football's defensive player of the year.
Bosa also made four tackles in the Buckeyes' season-opening 77-31 win over Oregon State while his sacks led to a loss of 21 yards. The touchdown he scored in the second quarter was the first of his career and gave Ohio State a 28-point lead heading into halftime.
It's going to be a long year for opposing offensive tackles

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound All-American has now recorded a sack in four consecutive games dating back to last year's win over Michigan. Bosa has 6.5 sacks during that stretch for 44 yards in losses. He's now tied with Cameron Heyward, who's currently with the Pittsburgh Steelers, for 16th place in Ohio State history with 15.5 sacks.
