K’Vaughan Pope is back in college football.

After his Ohio State career ended in dramatic fashion last fall, the former Buckeye linebacker announced Friday he is transferring to Tennessee State, where he will play for former Ohio State running back Eddie George.

Pope, a four-star recruit out of high school, was dismissed from the Ohio State football team last September after a sideline blowup during the Akron game, in which he had a heated verbal exchange with former linebackers coach Al Washington before throwing his gloves into the stands, after which he escorted to the locker room by director of player development C.J. Barnett.

A member of the recruiting class of 2018, Pope will bring two years of eligibility to Tennessee State, an HBCU that plays at the FCS level.

He joins a team whose coaching staff features plenty of Ohio State ties, as George is entering his second season as the Tigers’ head coach while defensive backs coach Richard McNutt, running backs coach Pepe Pearson and tight ends coach Mike Brewster are also former Buckeyes.
