Cavazos, who was a backup cornerback for his two seasons at Ohio State and was slated to remain a backup this season if he stayed with the Buckeyes, will look to earn a bigger role in the Tar Heels’ secondary, though they return a pair of starting cornerbacks in Tony Grimes and Storm Duck.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Cavazos chose UNC after hearing from more than 55 different schools. The Tar Heels’ recruitment of Cavazos was aided by men’s basketball star Armando Bacot, who attended IMG Academy with Cavazos.

Cavazos still has four more years of collegiate eligibility that he now brings with him to Chapel Hill.
He becomes the third Buckeye transfer to commit to a new school in a two-day span, along with Bryson Shaw (USC) and CorMontae Hamilton (Memphis).
