Keenan Bailey was the victim of a carjacking on Monday near Ginn Academy in Cleveland.
According to an Ohio State football spokesperson, Bailey was not injured in the incident and has resumed recruiting. The Ohio State tight ends coach provided evidence of such with a tweet from Canada on Tuesday.

The Monday incident involving Bailey was part of a carjacking spree conducted by four teens between 15 and 18 years old. The teens were arrested near East 107th and St. Clair Avenue after a police chase. The teens robbed Bailey at gunpoint, stealing his Dodge Durango. The teens then attempted to carjack two women, but both women drove away from the attack. Soon after, the police chase ensued, and the four teens were arrested. They are expected to be charged on Tuesday.
According to a report from cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer, Cleveland Councilman Mike Polensek, a board member at Ginn Academy, said the incident involving Bailey occurred in the school’s parking lot on Monday afternoon while classes were in session.
Polensek said he was notified of the crime when a Cleveland municipal court judge called him on Monday evening as he was leaving another meeting about crime in the community.
“I’m disgusted about it. It’s bad enough that this crime took place in our community but in an area that has little crime,” Polensek told The Plain Dealer.
Ginn Academy is an all-boys school founded by Glenville football and track and field coach Ted Ginn Sr. His son, Ted Ginn Jr., was a wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner at Ohio State before a 14-year NFL career with the Dolphins, 49ers, Panthers, Cardinals, Saints and Bears.
Ohio State has been well-connected with Glenville in the modern recruiting era, and several of its star high school prospects – Donte Whitner, Troy Smith, the younger Ginn, Marshon Lattimore and Cardale Jones – spent their college careers in Columbus. The Buckeyes recently added Arvell Reese in the 2023 class and have commitments from Bryce West and Damarion Witten in the 2024 class. West and Witten are expected to sign with the Buckeyes on Dec. 20, the first day of the early signing period.
