Kyle McCord is almost ready to announce his transfer destination.

In his first interview since he left Ohio State two weeks ago, the former Buckeye quarterback told 247Sports’ Chris Hummer that he will announce his decision “over the next few days” and that he is down to “two or three schools.”

The interview with 247Sports came after Syracuse.com’s Brent Axe reported late Saturday night that McCord planned to commit to Syracuse and that an official announcement could come as soon as Sunday.

McCord made an official visit to Syracuse over the weekend and told 247Sports that he enjoyed the visit.

“It was good, it was good,” McCord told 247Sports. “I like (new Syracuse coach Fran Brown) a lot and have known him for a while. The comfort level is definitely there.”

McCord declined to comment when asked by 247Sports why he chose to leave Ohio State.

After Ryan Day declined to commit to McCord as Ohio State’s starting quarterback for 2024, it is believed that McCord is seeking a sure-fire starting opportunity at his next school. He would likely get that at Syracuse, where current starting quarterback Garrett Shrader is set to exhaust his eligibility.

Editor's Note: Soon after this article was posted, McCord told ESPN's Pete Thamel that he has committed to Syracuse for the 2024 season. McCord becomes the fifth Buckeye to transfer to a new school this month, joining running backs Evan Pryor (Cincinnati) and Chip Trayanum (Kentucky) and defensive backs Ryan Turner (Boston College) and Kye Stokes (Cincinnati).
