It's never easy, huh?

I'll be 40 in a few weeks, which means that the only Ohio State national titles I've been around for have been 2002, 2014, and last night. I'm still trying to process my thoughts from what just happened, but one very specific thing that comes to mind is that for two and a half decades, Ohio State wins championships after refusing to back down from the corner they've painted themselves into.

I mean, seriously: we don't need to rehash every cardiac episode-inducing moment from 2002, or every way that the 2014 squad was seemingly snakebitten before having to take down two juggernauts, or how this 2024 team had to win against, in succession, Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame en route to a natty, but holy hell! I'll take a national title any way I can get them but just once it'd be nice for my blood pressure if the Buckeyes could calmly sail over the placid waters of college football to win it all.

On the other hand, maybe college football fandoms get what they deserve. Maybe huge, unwieldy fanbases like Ohio State's end up with huge, unwieldy championships because that's how the universe keeps the karmic balance.

Speaking of which, here's a huge, unwieldy Social Reactions national champions post! Enjoy!

BUCKEYES

EXULTANT JOY

SIGHTS AND SOUNDS

And that's it! The Ohio State Buckeyes won the national title! There is no next week, only forever.
