Ohio State is still No. 2.
On Tuesday, the CFP committee ranked Ohio State as the No. 2 team in America for the second consecutive week. Four more weeks remain until the committee sets the inaugural 12-team field.
The Buckeyes came in behind Oregon in the second rankings. The rest of the top 12 consisted of Texas, Penn State, Indiana, BYU, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Miami, Alabama, Ole Miss and Georgia.

Ohio State is 8-1 after 11 weeks of the 2024 college football season. The Buckeyes have defeated Akron, Western Michigan, Marshall, Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska, then-No. 3 Penn State and Purdue. The last of those three victories occurred this past weekend, a 45-0 beatdown of the Boilermakers, which marked Ohio State's first Big Ten shutout since Ryan Day took over as head coach. The team's lone blemish, a 32-31 loss to then-No. 3 Oregon, occurred on Oct. 12 in Eugene.

In addition to the CFP rankings, Ohio State is No. 2 in the AP and Coaches polls. The Buckeyes are also No. 1 in SP+ and No. 3 in the College Football Power Index. The latter metric states that Ohio State has the No. 4 strength of record and No. 26 strength of schedule in college football this season. The Buckeyes' remaining schedule – which includes Northwestern (at Wrigley Field), No. 5 Indiana and Michigan – ranks No. 18 in the sport.
