Ohio State promotes Brian Hartline to OC and Billy Fessler to QB coach, hires Tyler Bowen as OL coach
Ryan Day has found his man to lead Ohio State's offensive line room.
Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen has been tabbed to lead the Slobs in 2025. Bowen has an array of experience in his background as an offensive line coach, tight ends coach, recruiting coordinator and offensive coordinator, but it's on the recruiting front where it seems he could provide the biggest boost to the Buckeyes.
While serving as Penn State's offensive recruiting coordinator from 2018 through 2020, Bowen landed superstar offensive tackle Olu Fashanu and tight end Tyler Warren. He’ll have to prove himself as an on-field developer, however, as he has only a few years of experience specifically coaching offensive linemen, having last served as an offensive line coach in 2017 at Maryland.
Bowen's acumen will be tested immediately on the recruiting trail, where the Buckeyes are in pursuit of marquee targets like Jackson Cantwell and Immuanel Iheanacho, and when Ohio State takes the field this fall as it replaces four of its original starting five offensive linemen from 2024.
Eleven Warriors’ Andy Anders and Dan Hope discuss the hire on the latest episode of Press Coverage, which you can watch at the top of the page.
