Ohio State hockey's streaks came to an end on Friday, for better and for worse. The men's team suffered its first loss of the season. Over at the Ice Rink the Buckeye women snapped a five game losing skid.

The men got off to another fast start against Robert Morris. A shade over three minutes into the contest Matt Weis gave the Bucks a 1-0 lead. However, instead of the Buckeyes mashing the gas and powering to an eighth win, the Colonials took control of the game and reeled off five unanswered goals.

Special teams were no friend to OSU in this game. RMU took full advantage of its power play opportunities, going a perfect 2-for-2. Ohio State was 0-for-5 and surrendered a shorthanded empty netter.

A Dave Gust goal stopped the bleeding temporarily in the early minutes of the third period, but the score didn’t spark a Buckeye rally. Freshman goalie Francis Marotte stopped 12 OSU shots in the final frame and 35 overall to secure RMU’s third victory of the season.

Tomkins started in net for Ohio State. He made 19 saves on 24 shots before he was relieved by Logan Davis. Davis turned aside all six shots he faced in his 16:17 of ice time. The men’s hockey Bucks drop to 5-1-2 on the season.

Across the street at the Ice Rink Ohio State's women enjoyed a much better result. Kassidy Sauve posted 32 saves as the Buckeyes shut out Lindenwood and put an end to their five game losing streak. The effort was her second goose egg of the season.

The women's Bucks and Lions meet again tomorrow at 2pm ET at the OSU Ice Rink. (If you’re going don’t forget to be aware of the parking situation.) The men’s hockey Bucks take another shot at Bobby Mo tomorrow in Pittsburgh, PA. Game time is scheduled for 7pm ET.
