Ohio State blows out Indiana, 38-15. Now, it's time to do the same to That Team Up North.
The women’s hockey season is four weeks old. The WCHA has awarded four sets of weekly awards. Ohio State has been represented - wait for it... four times. The Bucks own six individual conference honors to date (plus one national award). This week Maddy Field gets the nod for WCHA Offensive Player of the Week. Emma Maltais is your Rookie of the Week.

Field netted two goals and two assists in last week’s series sweep of St. Cloud State. Maltais pocketed two goals and an assist. Each scored a game opening goal. So, given Kassidy Sauve’s total domination in net, Maltais and Field notched the gamewinning tallies on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The performance of both women at St. Cloud is par for the course. Field is running as regular as a Swiss watch these days. She has a goal in each of her last four outings and an assist in each of the last three games. She now leads the team in goals with six on the year.
Maltais tops all Buckeye point-getters with 12. The fabulous freshman has recorded at least one point in seven of OSU’s eight games this season. Not only are both women leaders for the Buckeyes, they also rank among the top 12 in the NCAA in both points and goals scored.
Field and Maltais are key cogs in an OSU offense rolling along at a 3.75 goals per game clip. That average is the nation’s seventh best mark. The Bucks’ defense ranks even better at No. 6 in the NCAA (1.38 goals allowed per game). Ohio State boasts a 7-0-1 record overall and a conference-leading 5-0-1-1 mark in the WCHA. The team retains its No. 4 position in both polls this week.
The Bucks are off this week, prepping for next week’s clash with No. 1 Wisconsin. That battle is slated to begin on Saturday, November 4 at 3pm ET. The teams wrap their series on Sunday, November 5 at 1pm ET.
- Buckeye blueliner Jincy Dunne (two assists, three blocks, +4 rating) earned an honorable mention for WCHA Defensive Player of the Week.
- Tip of the cap to Julianna Iafallo (two goals, one assist) and Kassidy Sauve (52 saves and two shutouts) for notable contributions against the Huskies. Both are featured in this week's WCHA highlights.
