Ohio State's 2018 class is starting to fill up.
Less than a month after Aaliyah Patty became the first commitment of what should be a huge 2018 recruiting class, they now have their second as four-star guard Janai Crooms committed to Ohio State on Thursday afternoon.
The Crooms File
- Class: 2018
- Size: 5-10
- Pos: G
- School: St. Andrew's School, Barrington, RI
- Composite Rating: ★★★★
- Composite Rank: 61 (17 G)
Crooms, from St. Andrew's School in Barrington, Rhode Island, is the nation's No. 61 overall prospect according to ESPN, and the No. 17 guard. She chose Ohio State over Rutgers, Michigan State and Florida.
With eight current Buckeyes entering their fourth year of eligibility, Coombs will likely need to contribute immediately when she arrives on campus, and her game fits Ohio Sate's scheme.
From a July scouting report from ESPN:
Strong, agile combo-guard with smooth offensive attack; rebounds, handles and distributes in transition; unselfish teammate, superb passer in transition or half-court game; 1 on 1 creator, collapses the defense, physical off the dribble, shot creator under duress; superb guard skills. (Olson)
With the amount of roster turnover expected after this season, Ohio State will need a sizable freshman class to fill both the starting lineup and the bench. Buckeye fans should be expecting more news on the recruiting front in the coming weeks.
