It's no secret that Ohio is a hotbed of wrestling talent and is home to some of the most passionate wrestling fans in the country. Those fans, and plenty of fans from neighboring Pennsylvania, packed Quicken Loans Arena for the 2018 NCAA Wrestling Championship, setting both new single-session and all-session attendance records.
Year | Host City: Total Attendance |
---|---|
2018 | Cleveland: 113,747 |
2015 | St. Louis: 113,013 |
2012 | St. Louis: 112,393 |
2017 | St. Louis: 111,454 |
2016 | New York City: 110,194 |
In the final session Saturday night, 19,776 fans packed The Q, surpassing the previous single-session record of 19,715 set in St. Louis during the 2015 Championship round.
The near-capacity turnout pushed the all-session attendance figure to a new record, 113,747, passing the previous record of 113,013, also set in 2015.
With Ohio State still in the hunt for the school's second national title, Cleveland could see more history made yet Saturday night.
