There were some crazy numbers bandied about before Jim Harbaugh put ink to paper on his contract. But with Harbaugh set to be announced here in 45 minutes, it looks like he won't be making $8 million a year to coach that team up north.
BREAKING NEWS: Straight from UM AD Jim Hackett. Harbaugh's salary will be roughly $5M a year, plus incentives, same basic contract as 49ers.

$8 million a year would've been an impressive funding operation from Michigan, so this makes sense. BUT IT'S ALL PART OF HARBAUGH'S PLAN, natch:
Jim Harbaugh told Hackett he did NOT want to be the highest paid coach in CFB, or even the Big Ten. More concerned with pay for assistants.

Jim Harbaugh will get a $250,000 bonus for winning the B1G title game, $500,000 for a national title.

I was over the moon when Ohio State hired Urban Meyer, and I didn't have to trudge through eight rivers of horseshit and Brady Hoke mumbling to get there, so I will allow Michigan fans their elation.
Next year in Ann Arbor is going to be a #banger, though.
