Sawyer collected 59 tackles, nine sacks, an interception, seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and two defensive touchdowns in 2024, the latter his famed 83-yard scoop-and-score to seal a CFP semifinal win over Texas.
The last former Buckeye to throw out a first pitch at a Guardians game is defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr., who tossed one before a Cleveland game on May 18, 2024. Former wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. tossed one for the Arizona Diamondbacks less than a month later on June 13.
Sawyer is preparing for the 2025 NFL draft, where he's a projected Day 2 pick.
