With the roaring success of the first College Football Playoffs, many (including this piece's author) thinks the expansion of the field to eight teams is all but inevitable.
That is not so, though, according to the playoff's cryptkeeper.
From Johny Talty of our nation's site of record, Al.com:
"I'm not hearing the drum within our business," Hancock told AL.com. "I'm hearing it from journalists. I think we need to give this a chance. It's such a remarkable new innovation for the game. There is no talk in our group of expanding."
Considering Hancock's group was the same one that told us college playoffs would ruin the sport, a view they held all the way until it became a matter of self-preservation not to, it's tough to take Hancock at his word here.
