Ohio State fans celebrated Monday when co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Tim Beck left to coordinate Tom Herman's Texas offense.
While it's a logical leap the move stems as fallout from Clemson's 31-0 hiding of Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl, Beck-to-Texas was reportedly known to the staff three weeks prior.
It's an interesting conundrum for Buckeye fans. Herman is seen as an offensive genius, whereas Beck is seen as the opposite of that.
Wednesday night, Herman tweeted the header graphic above, touting the statistical success of Ohio State's offense in the past two years.
Thursday, he doubled down on his defense. Criticism of Beck, he says, is misplaced. He also said Urban Meyer endorsed the hire.

Tom Herman on criticism of Tim Beck: "Really surprised. It's well known Tim Beck didn't call plays at Ohio St. Negativity was misplaced."

With Beck out and former 49ers quarterbacks coach and Chip Kelly disciple Ryan Day in, Ohio State fans will still be keen on watching the performance of the Longhorns offense in 2017.
It could be Beck's redemption tour.
