Instead of the election news, and boy I sure hope my guy wins (Name redacted).
Here's a forum to distract us from election anxiety... what's your favorite Ohio State memory?
Here's mine... In 2002, Tressel's National Title Year, I was a junior at Ohio State. By Michigan week, one thing was apparent: an OSU win and they're national title game bound.
Realize, in the archaic 2002 BCS days there was no playoff system nor a Big Ten Title game... in both 2002, 2006, and 2007 it was beat Michigan and here comes the title game (after a 51 day wait).
I remember my electrical engineering classes that Friday. The campus attendance was light that day, many no shows. My semiconductor's class that afternoon was so sparse, the professor took names for extra credit (the first and only time in my EE experience). The parties started Friday night and literally it was my first all-nighter. When I say parties were everywhere, it's not an exaggeration... Walking home from class to my house on Indianola, it was astonishing how many filled porches with partier's I passed.
The bars opened at their earliest legal time on Saturday, 6 AM. I had not slept at this point and the excitement was thick and apparent. I don't know how I lasted without sleep (youth, I guess), and finally we arrived at the game.
OSU held their own... up 13-9, and Michigan with one last drive. I remember thinking, uh-oh... Michigan, with less than 10 seconds left from OSU's 26, threw an incomplete pass... but there was one second still left on the clock (AIIGHH!!!!). Finally, Will Allen intercepted the final pass.
The crowd went wild and students tried to storm the field. Initially, the front lines were pepper-sprayed... but, then security must've realized we came in peace and let us on the field. I took a piece of turf home (brought it home thanksgiving week, remember The Game used to be the Saturday prior to TG, and my mom threw it away).
Anyway, if that sounds lame... please top it in the comments.
