Merritt is the second former OSU defensive end commit to reopen his recruitment this month, as he joins Zahir Mathis. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound prospect had been committed to Ohio State since the spring, but took a few visits to other schools, including North Carolina and Colorado.
The Buckeyes now have four defensive linemen committed in the 2025 class: Jarquez Carter, Trajen Odom, Zion Grady and Maxwell Roy. They'll host a trio of potential additions this weekend: five-star defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart, Penn State defensive end commit Chaz Coleman and UCLA defensive end commit Epi Sitanilei.
