TL/DR: I despise TTUN and their fan base more tonight than I did this morning. Read further if you’d like to know more.
Sitting here on an ungodly long layover in StL so I went to grab myself a bite to eat and a drink. Tall, bald, penisy-looking dude is sitting there wearing a TTUN sweatshirt so I throw a quick, good-natured “Go Buckeyes!” his direction. He turns to me and, without skipping a beat says, “I hope your (insert slur towards homosexuals used as an adjective here) team all get aids and dies.” Straight face. Even tone. I was shocked.
Obviously there are plenty of different viewpoints on acceptable discourse in public (and private) settings but this was so juvenile, and yet earnest, I didn’t even know how to respond in the moment, and after being out of the immediate moment it didn’t seem worthwhile or productive to address it further. I ended up walking on to my table and ordering my beer and burger, eating, paying and leaving. All the while he’s still just sitting at his table. I’m not sure why, but I was expecting him to come over and apologize or something. Not to me, just in general for behaving like a shitty human.
So, if you’ve made it this far the moral of the story is this: fuck these useless fucking wastes of space and I hope we embarrass them 10x more than I normally hope we embarrass them. Fucking ignorant damn fan base.
