This year has highlighting one huge issue with college sports(among others) and that is the lack of consitency within control of the NCAA. In past years it has been relatively minor issues such as different conferences having different number of in conference games. SEC and ACC had 8; Pac 12 and Big Ten had 9. For awhile you also had different uses of a conference championship game. These are issues because unlike other sports; you don't have a uniform way to "grade" seasons. You would see it in other areas such as 4 year scholarships vs 1 year and the dreaded "oversigning" that we even sometimes participate in depending on how strict you want to judge it.
That brings us to this year. You have the NCAA not even "controlling" their football championship which brings issues when they cancel all fall titles except football because they don't own it. Then you have conflicting schedules this year. Some are conference only, some are in the fall vs spring. There is no good reason for there not to be a uniform policy within atleast the P5 and it will be the downfall of football because of it. I think alot of frustration isn't exactly that we postponed football. It is that we are not in line with other teams that are "like us". I think if all 5 conferences were aligned we would still be mad at no football but not outright angry and frustrated.
