When Did the Clock Start on TUN’s Demise?

After reading another great Skully this morning, that included a video of TUN’s recent hilarious moments set to “Send In the Clowns”

(Check out this hilarious TUN poster in the comments saying they are living rent free in OSU’s heads! Hahahahaha), it got me to thinking when did this life of misery begin for them? At what point in time does that clock to: no one gives a shiznit about them anymore and “what other two-star can we snag from Rhode Island” start?

We all know the glory years of TUN football are well in the past. We’ve seen the stat that not a person alive has seen a day where TUN had a better overall record than OSU. But with OSU owning the best winning percentage of all time among all Power 5 schools, this isn’t a great shock. Would you start the clock with Chic Harley? Having introduced to the world and the rivalry to that next level of OSU athlete? Would you start the clock with Woody Hayes, who laid the long-term foundation for championships and greatness? Was it Jim Tressel’s arrival, who came in with an improvised speech about kicking TUN trash, that ended up being more prophetic than Mayan calendar doomsdayers? Do you start the clock with the end of the Lloyd Carr era? Or perhaps the year Urban Meyer stole Jim Harbaugh’s sole having unleashed Curtis Samuel in 2OT in what would be the only competitive game of Harbaugh’s sad tenure. Would you start it with the hire of Ryan Day, having brought a Death Star to TUN defenses that the team nor Don Brown has ever recovered from? What event have I missed, my fellow Buckeye fans, that started that clock leading to TUN sadness and obscurity? For which one would you make the strongest case for? It’s a good day to be a Buckeye when we’re on day 3523 since TUN has tasted victory over OSU!
