Not even death can stop Nebraska fans from criticizing the team.
The obituary of Nebraska resident Milton A. Munson Jr. went viral on Sunday thanks to a brutally honest evaluation of the state of the Cornhuskers program. Per the obituary, Munson died at the age of 73 last Tuesday.
The stated cause of death: Nebraska clinching another losing season.
The grim reality of the Nebraska Cornhuskers finishing yet another season with a losing record proved to be too much to bear for Milton Andrew Munson, who decided he’d seen enough of this world during the team’s recent bye week. The Huskers may not have sent him into the afterlife with a victory but at least they didn’t lose. And sometimes, that’s the best you can hope for.
The final Nebraska game Munson could have watched was the team's heartbreaking 26-17 loss against Ohio State, in which special teams woes cost the Huskers a chance at one of the season's biggest upsets. Head coach Scott Frost managed to survive the loss, which knocked the team's record down to 3-7, but others apparently weren't so lucky.
Nebraska came out of the bye week with another chance at an upset against Wisconsin, but were once again undone by a 200-yard performance from a Badgers running back, in this case Braelon Allen. It has now been five years since Nebraska posted a winning record and 22 years since it won even a conference title.
Munson's obituary wasn't entirely doom-and-gloom, though, as it made one optimistic request of its readers:
Memorial Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home in Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial with Hastings Military Honor Guard will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. In lieu of flowers, please place an irresponsibly large wager on Nebraska beating Iowa.
BetMGM currently has Nebraska as a 1.5-point underdog against Iowa this weekend and +105 on the moneyline.
