The Buckeyes' 17 match winning streak ended tonight in Norman, OK, where our No. 1 nationally ranked team fell to the No. 4 Sooners, 4-1. OU took 2 of 3 doubles matches to win the first point of the match, then won 2 of the next 3 singles matches in straight sets. The team match stood at 3-1 in favor of the host Sooners, who needed only one more win on Courts 1, 2 or 4. The Buckeyes were in serious trouble, having lost the first set in each of those matches. But, then they mounted what looked to be a great comeback, winning the second sets in matches 1 and 2, and fighting back to 5 all in the second set in match 4. The Buckeyes went up 1-0 on Court 2, but their charge ended there when OU closed out the second set and the match, 7-5 on Court 4. The two remaining matches were then suspended.
The Buckeyes next play Georgia in Athens, GA, on 3/12, before returning to Columbus to play Michigan on 3/21. The Bucks will be trying to extend their home winning streak to 184, the longest active winning streak among all Division I sports.
