Ohio State announced Asia Doss will miss Friday's Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal game against Rutgers with an ankle sprain.
Doss injured her ankle during the regular-season finale against Penn State and played through the injury. But after consulting with physicians, the decision was to rest her to make sure she's ready for the NCAA Tournament.
An Ohio State spokesman told me Doss needed some convincing before ultimately deciding this was for the best. Up till now, she hadn't missed a game in her career, appearing in 134-straight contests.
Without Doss, a tight Buckeye rotation gets even tighter. Ohio State started Alexa Hart in her place – going bigger than the typical four-guard lineup – with Makayla Waterman and Jensen Caretti coming off the bench.
While Doss isn't necessarily out for the entirety of the Big Ten Tournament, the Buckeyes will likely value her health for the NCAA Tournament over a chance for a Big Ten Tournament title.
