Sorry for the late update, but family comes first.

Anyway, two days after falling to Marquette in overtime, Ohio State manages to barely top Detroit Mercy by an 8-7 score.

Detroit jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st quarter, with Ohio State closing the gap to 5-3 by halftime. Ohio State won the 3rd quarter 3-1 to head into the 4th stanza tied at 6. 2 quick tallies in the 4th proved to be too much for Detroit to overcome, as OSU slowly ground out a win by suffocating the Titans' offense.

Ohio State was led in points by Tre Leclaire, who had 1 goal and 2 assists, and Gale Thorpe, who had 2 goals and an assist. Today was the first game Tre Leclaire hasn't started in 2018, as I believe that he is being put at midfield for...reasons. I am unsure as to the thinking in that move, given how much Ohio State has struggled to generate offense from the attackmen.

True freshman Jackson Reid added another tally, while Lukas Buckley added two more goals to the Buckeye cause. My anointing of Justin Inacio appears to have been premature, as Christian Feliziani took the majority of faceoffs and won 11-13. Inacio went 3-5 to help OSU to a massive 14-18 win in a very close game. And, in a nice trend, Ohio State went 2-3 on EMOs.

As bad as the score looked, Ohio State outshot Detroit 35 to 24, and beat them on groundballs 32 to 22.

The big issue seems to be with Leclaire's role and the lack of meaningful production from the attackmen. Leclaire still has 12 goals and 6 assists, but for whatever reason is now a 2nd line midfielder. And the attackman, especially senior Colin Chell, have a ghosted a bit against better competition. There are many kinks to be ironed out with a brutal slate coming up, but fpr npw all eyes are on Towson.

5-1 isn't bad, 6-1 is better.
