Welp. A tough loss and a bitter pill to swallow. Not much else you can say about a game the Buckeyes had every chance to win.
Towson jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, before the Buckeyes added a tally to make it 3-1 going into the second quarter. Ohio State rammed home 3 more goals, going on a 4-0 run to make it 4-3 at the half. Ohio State added a single tally in the 3rd quarter to go up 5-3 into the 4th. Once there, the wheels fell off.
Ohio State managed a single goal after Towson scored twice in 12 seconds to notch things at 5. A poorly timed crosscheck to the throat put Towson on Man Up with under 2 to play. The Tigers scored with just over a minute left on the EMO, then completely smothered the Buckeye offense in OT. With 6 seconds left, Jon Mazza, who you may remember from the preview, scored a diving goal to send OSU to the showers as losers.
The name of this game was efficiency. The Tigers had it. Ohio State did not. Towson only had 19 shots all day, but converted 7 of them. Ohio State had 40 shots. Converted 6. The team is in an offensive funk. No other way to say it.
Denver and Notre Dame are up next, which will be incredibly challenging for different reasons. And the B1G has no slouches anymore. Not even TTUN. Hopefully the offense can get it together soon, and start pouring in some goals.
Ohio State is now 5-2, playing Denver in Colorado on St. Patty's Day.
