Just an abominable performance from Ohio State this week after taking Notre Dame to the wire last Sunday. How a team that scored 8 goals against Notre Dame can only score 4 against Penn State is beyond me.
Ohio State had 4 goalscorers. Leclaire, Jackson Reid, JT Bugliosi, and Jack Jasinski each scored once. 3 of those goals came in the second quarter. Penn State shut out Ohio State in the 1st and 4th quarters of the game, and only allowed one goal in the 3rd. At no point was Ohio State closer than 3 goals to a Nittany Lions team that outclassed OSU from the opening whistle.
3 players took the faceoff for the Buckeyes, and Inacio did the best, winning 6 of 14. Feliziani went 1/4, and true Freshman Evan Riss went 0/2. Arceri also scored a goal himself, marking a trend of Buckeye FOGOs letting their opponent score without scoring themselves.
The Penn State D, which has allowed 3 different teams to score in the teens, held OSU to fewer goals than Cleveland State a week ago. Colby Kneese had 16 saves, and only 4 goals allowed. Each week, Ohio State finds a way to be even more inept on offense. The futility is staggering.
I don't know what happened to Gale Thorpe. He's a far better attackman than Chell, senior or not. The midfielders are struggling in a way that is unfathomable. I don't know how this staff broke Tre Leclaire, but they did, and refuse to fix him.
Penn State was probably the only team in Big Ten play Ohio State had a chance of beating, and the Lions just wiped the floor with them. Even TTUN has jumped past Ohio State this season, and the Wolverines just got a brand new staff after being remarkably loyal to the MCLA guys who founded the varsity program.
This was a bad loss to a middle of the road team, and it's hard to find a victory in the remaining 4 games.
