Wow. There is nothing else to say. Just wow. What a game. Ohio State has had its struggles, especially on offense, but they figured it out at the right time.
From 5-6 and on the way to a disappointing finish to 7-6 and right in the hunt for a tourney spot. The Buckeyes are on their way up, and this can only be great news.
This win can be attributed completely to the unknowns on the Buckeye team. I have had my criticisms of Colin Chell, but the senior attackman really stepped up today. The Maryland native exploded for 4 goals and an assist today.
He had only scored 7 goals all season before taking on the Terps. It's quite the impressive statement as the season hung in the balance.
The only player more surprising than Chell today was Jack Jasinski, who scored twice and dished out 5 assists to lead the Buckeyes in points with 7. There is not a bigger stage than playing the number 1 team in their own house, and Jasinski gave the best performance of his career.
Aiding these two upperclassmen were the efforts of two freshmen. Jackson Reid had a hat trick of his own, helping to stop several Maryland rallies. And Justin Inacio was lights out at the faceoff X, winning 17 of 26 faceoffs, including 7 in a row at one point.
This was a tremendous win, really helped Ohio State in their postseason pursuits, and has to be a nice boost heading into the finale against Rutgers.
