Swenski found himself on the medal stand after bumping up from 182 pounds for his senior season. He finished the year with a 25-4 record including 16 pins.
Ohio State needed another big body in the room, with the expected departures of graduate Gas Tank Gary Traub and former ranked heavyweight turned 197-pounder Chase Singletary. Both men put their name in the transfer portal after the NCAA tournament according to FloWrestling's transfer tracker.
The Buckeyes recently added another Keystone State commitment in Lock Haven transfer Will Betancourt, perhaps giving further credence to Tom Ryan's commitment for the program to get better on the mat this offseason. Pennsylvania is generally considered to have the best high school wrestling in the country, and certainly with regard to fundamental mat skills.
Ohio State's Class of 2021 includes top-ranked Ohio native Paddy Gallagher, highly-ranked lightweight Andre Gonzales of California, and 125-pound prospect Chase Liardi of New York.
The Class of 2022 is headlined by in-state star Seth Shumate from Dublin, Pennsylvania champ and top-ranked big man Nick Feldman, and Ohio native Gavin Brown.
