Ohio State’s men’s and women’s track and field teams both finished second at this weekend’s Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships, which were held in Geneva, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday.
The men’s team finished 15 points behind Iowa, with 102 points to Iowa’s 117, while the women’s team finished eight points behind Minnesota, with 94 points to the Gophers’ 102.
While both Ohio State teams came up a bit short of winning team championships, several Buckeye athletes won individual titles.
On the women’s side, Anavia Battle won two titles as she finished first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.28 seconds and won 200-meter gold in a Big Ten Championships record time of 22.39 seconds. Fellow Olympian Adelaide Aquilla won the shot put with a top throw of 18.71 meters and Jaimie Robinson took triple jump gold with a winning distance of 13.02 meters.
On the men’s side, Tyler Johnson won two titles as he finished first in both the 200 (20.76 seconds) and 400 (45.31 seconds), while Luke Bendick took gold in the pole vault with a winning height of 5.45 meters.
