A former Ohio State men’s hockey player will make his NHL debut with his hometown team tonight, as Carson Meyer has been called up to play for the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night against the Boston Bruins.

Meyer, who was selected by the Blue Jackets in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL draft, played for the Buckeyes for two seasons from 2018-20 after starting his collegiate career at Miami (Ohio). The Powell, Ohio native scored 53 points (26 goals, 27 assists) in 71 games as a Buckeye.
He will become the fifth former Ohio State player to play for the Blue Jackets.

Meyer, who has spent most of the season playing for the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters, will be on the Blue Jackets’ fourth line of forwards for Monday’s game at Nationwide Arena, which is set for a 7 p.m. puck drop and will be televised on Bally Sports Ohio.
