Ohio State men’s hockey opened its rivalry series in Ann Arbor with a dominant performance on Friday night, beating Michigan 7-2 on the Wolverines’ home ice.

The Buckeyes pulled away from the Wolverines with a dominant second period in which they outscored the home team 5-1. For the game as a whole, Ohio State outshot Michigan 52-21 and scored four power-play goals as well as a shorthanded goal. Travis Treloar (2 goals, 1 assist), Stephen Halliday (1 goal, 2 assists) and Tate Singleton (0 goals, 3 assists) each totaled three points for OSU, which is now 15-7-1 on the season with six straight wins.
Ohio State and Michigan will play again on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The second game of the two-game series will be televised by Big Ten Network.
It was a good night on the ice all the way around for Ohio State on Friday night as the No. 1-ranked women’s hockey team improved to 19-2-2 on the series with an overtime victory over Wisconsin in the first game of a two-game series at the OSU Ice Rink.
