The scoreline flatters Ohio State tremendously as the Buckeyes were bested in nearly every facet of the game today. Cornell was dominant from the jump, racing out to a 9-3 halftime lead.

Ohio State allowed 60 shots, 31 shots on goal, committed 20 turnovers, only generated 39 shots of their own, and was down at least 4 goals after Q1 until the final minute of the game. This was a beating, even if the scoreline doesn't show it.

Jack Myers had 3 assists, Colby Smith had a goal on 4 shots in a return to action, and Ari Allen made a cameo. Ed Shean is a certified star, with 4 goals today. True freshman Matt Caputo tallied twice in his first action all year. True freshman Dillon Magee scored twice, but needed 7 shots to do it.

Defensively, Skylar Wahlund was a freaking wall, even if the scoreline doesn't show it. He faced an INSANE amount of shots, and made 15 saves. Any competent performance from the defense would have made this a W. Blake Eiland is perhaps the new Trent DiCicco, as Eiland scored a goal and dished out an assist as a true freshman SSDM.

The teams were even on special teams, both converting 2 of their 6 chances.

Ohio State improved offensively over last week's effort, but the defense is leaking like a sieve against quality opponents. Losing to both top 5 opponents makes this season much tighter in terms of results. Ohio State needs to beat BOTH Notre Dame and Denver over the next three weeks to really sniff the national tournament.

Ohio State definitely needs to go at least 3-2 in the Big Ten also. Maryland seems to be righting the ship, and Rutgers is very dangerous. One of those teams probably needs to be in that win column for Ohio State to have a prayer.

Onto the Irish.

Go Bucks!
