This past weekend, Ohio State played in a round robin tournament in Frisco, Texas against Mississippi State, Cal Berkeley, and Oklahoma.

On Friday, they played against Mississippi State, and won 8-3 on the back of a 4-run 6th and 3-run 7th innings. The top personal scorer was Henry Kaczmar who had 2 hits and 2 runs on 5 at-bats, but the top team scorer was Tyler Pettorini with 3 RBIs.

On Saturday against Cal, pretty much everything that could go wrong did. Cal started off the game with a 5-run T1 inning, and the score only got worse with a 10-run 5th inning. The lone Buckeye score was by Marcus Ernst in a 1-16 loss in 7 innings.

However, the bats got going again on Sunday against Oklahoma. The Buckeyes fell in a 0-3 deficit early, but took the lead thanks to a 5-run 3rd inning. The Buckeyes would never relinquish the lead as they built up as much as a 11-5 lead thanks to 3-run 5th and 7th innings. Oklahoma threatened a comeback with 2-run 7th and 8th innings, including multiple times with bases loaded, but the pitching never broke, as the Buckeyes held on for a 12-9 win. Kaczmar, Pettorini, Kade Kern, and Mitchell Okuley all "led" the personal scoring, each with 2 runs, and Kern and Nick Erwin "led" team scoring with 3 RBIs each

Ohio State finished the weekend 2-1, and won the Classic by virtue of the head-to-head win over the likewise 2-1 Sooners. MSU and Cal both finished 1-2 on the weekend, MSU beating Cal on Sunday for "third place."

Overall, Ohio State improved to 5-6 on the young season with a series at Cal State Bakersfield this coming weekend, March 10-12, while Oklahoma improved to 6-5, Mississippi State fell to 7-5, and Cal fell to 7-3.

A recap of Ohio State's season thus far includes a 2-2 series tie with 6-3 UConn in the Snowbird Classic, and a 1-3 round robin series in Phoenix, Arizona against 1-10 Gonzaga and 8-3 Grand Canyon (1-1 against Gonzaga, and 0-2 against Grand Canyon).
