Pathetic. In all phases of the game, Ohio State was pathetic today. How anyone on the offensive side of the ball still has a job, including Rick Lewis, is absolutely beyond me.
The seniors and 5th year starters, who you are supposed to count on, had exactly 0 goals between them. Jason Knox, a Man Up specialist, and Mitchell Pehlke, who is 10x better on camera than on the field, scored goals in the first half.
Jack Myers registered 0 points. Every regular senior starter missed every shot. Kyle Borda, the big man from Fairfield, is 0 for his last three games. GAMES. That's supposed to be statistically impossible, and yet here we are.
Colby Smith returned from injury just in time to be absolutely useless. If he was going to go 0-7, they might as well have suited up a freshman to get demolished and let Smith recover another week.
This program is going to be perpetually drifting between 3 and 6 in the conference until the recruiting and offensive coaching picks up.
Defensively, Ohio State was merely adequate. Why they decided to let everyone EXCEPT Pat Kavanagh take shots is beyond me. Pat has crushed teams with assists all year, was poor shooting. Instead, the Buckeyes decided to let Chris Kavanagh and the midfielders have a field day.
The first half was at least respectable. Only 5 goals on 20 shots. But the rest of the game was absolutely egregious. The team has no capacity to make adjustments, or actually put a shot on net.
The faceoff unit got chewed up, special teams was a small disaster, and turnovers were out of control.
Skylar Wahlund was the only player who did his job even remotely well. He was around 50% in saves all day. And still, the Buckeyes got embarrassed.
After 15 years, and literally millions in salary at this point, the program deserves better. If they're going to be okay with performances like this in the AD's office, sign me for 20% of the salary and I can do the same thing. What a joke.
Detroit Mercy on Tuesday. God help us all.
Go Bucks.
