It was a long week for only 3 games as weather played a major role. What was originally scheduled as a 2 game stint at Marshall, and a 3 game home opening series against Dayton saw a game from each series get canceled, but Ohio State made the most of the games they were able to play.
Starting on Wednesday, the bats cooled off tremendously considering the previous weekend, as the Buckeyes could only muster 5 runs, but that was enough to beat Marshall, winning the game 5-1. Despite the relatively low score, Matthew Graveline led the highlights of the game, crossing home plate three times, including one homer in the T2. Each Buckeye run was batted in by a different player, so there was no one high team scorer, but again, enough to get the win. Pitching was solid as the win was given to starter George Eisenhardt - his first of the season - with he and closer Nolen Clegg each recording 3 strikeouts.

Both games against Dayton played out similarly with a battle in the early innings, but Ohio State pouring it on late to pull away for the wins.
In a chilly game 1 on Friday, the Buckeyes started off strong with Trey Lipsey walking and Kade Kern smashing a home run to take a quick 2-0 lead in the B1, but that would remain the Buckeye score for a while. Dayton responded with a 2 run homer of their own in the T3 - their only score of the game. It was a pitching duel for 7 innings as starter Isaiah Coupet recorded his third win of the season while striking out 11 Flyer batters. However, the Buckeyes broke open the game with 5 runs in the B7, which would wind up being the deciding inning. Kade Kern was the high scorer for both personal (2 runs) and team (4 RBIs) scoring.

Game 2 on Sunday played out similarly, albeit with a little more scoring on both sides. This time Dayton got off to a strong start, taking a 1-0 lead in the T1, and extending that lead with 2 more runs in the T4. Ohio State responded with a 4 run B4 to briefly take the lead. Dayton took back the lead with a 1 run T5 and 2 run T6, but that's when things turned. Ohio State used a 3 run B6 and a game-deciding 5 run B7 to take the lead for good. The Flyers would score 2 more in the T9, but a double play ended Dayton's hopes for a 9th inning rally. Pitching wasn't as spectacular this game, but starter Justin Eckhardt recorded 3 strikeouts, and the win was given to Jonah Jenkins, his 3rd of the season. Lipsey led both personal and team scoring with 2 runs and 6 RBIs - highlighted by a bases-clearing 3 RBI double and a 3 RBI homer.

Marshall, along with a 1-2 weekend against Appalachian State, dropped to 9-8 while Dayton dropped to 4-13. While not the strongest of opponents considering the records, the 3 wins over the week improved the Buckeye win streak to 7 games and the season record to 11-6. Next up, Ohio State has two one-off home games against 8-10 Wright State on Tuesday and 9-9 Toledo on Wednesday, before going to 13-7 Indiana to open up Big Ten play with a 3 game weekend series.
